Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. The actress is American stage and film actor. Contractor, who was born and raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was seven, had traveled around across the globe and lived through many cultures as a child. At the age of seven through nine, she was a student at boarding schools in London. The family later relocated to Toronto which she stayed in through the majority of her childhood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school, where she not only danced but also studied theatre. Contractor began her acting career at 16, following nearly 10 years in dance. After she had completed high school, she won an all-inclusive scholarship to the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed the Master of Arts in Theatre. She also double majored with sociology and psychology. After a single year at University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the play Pericles at the world-class and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the lead role. Her performance received rave reviews. her performance in the 92 shows performed the play was voted"the best show of 2002" by Canadian reviewers in 2002. She accepted the invitation to attend Stratford's conservatory. It is a place which allows just four men and eight females can attend an intensive 20-week program in classical theatre.
