Wilson's fame spread to America in 2014, when she appeared in Showtimes The Affair. She was Alison Lockhart, a young woman who has a difficult past and becomes involved with Noah Solloway. The show also starring Maura Tierney as well as Joshua Jackson was a hit for both critics and viewers alike and earned Wilson a Golden Globe for Best Actress in the field of Television Series Drama in 2015. Wilson told British Vogue, "I loved being able to play a character with both sides of the tale." Noah believes that Alison is this confident, sexy and reckless version of herself. But she sees herself completely differently, which appears to be dowdy as well as in the shadows, unwilling to make a statement. Wilson added that she does think America is morally skewed and so judgmental that what is happening on television is shocking. Wilson left the show in 2018 to many fans' dismay, though she was vague about the specifics. In an interview with CBS This Morning in August, with CBS This Morning, Wilson said she was adamant to leave the show but did not have the right to talk about the reasons behind her departure. Wilson has been working in the film industry later. The year she was born, she appeared in the film I Am The Pretty Thing from the house in the film I Am the Pretty Thing. In 2017, she appeared as the cryptic PT Stella, in the sci fi rom com How to Talk to Girls in Parties. In order to complete her credits list her upcoming film will feature a British film adaptation of The Little Stranger. This supernatural thriller was based on a novel written by Sarah Waters. Wilson is also the producer of the film.
